I spent a good chunk of the week (my ‘spring break’) holding Navy, which I still contend is the best hobby during a pandemic. Navy’s primary nurses were all with her, day and night shift, from Sunday-today, so she got a lot of spoiled, personal care. Mileena made her the unicorn in the photo attached. ?
The big news from the week was that she was able to get back to full feeds with breast milk and no alterations. There wasn’t any additional fluid build up so it looks like the chylo healed up. ?
All told, she is on a slow but steady path. Most days are similar– she sleeps most of the morning, plays with the occupational therapist at 11:00, then her team meets around 12 to discuss any changes. We are weaning her morphine two days/ week and went down by almost half this past week. ?
As we’ve been exposed to and surrounded by the health care world, we’ve wondered what’s the best way to give back or show support. Would you buy shirts or socks for a nurse? Would you buy a shirt or socks of support for them but for yourself to wear? Or, what little gift (outside of essentials) would be considerate to give to these heroes in scrubs? ?
